Graphic Novel Creation Classes

Please join us for an exciting new class where YOU get to be the storyteller! If your middle schooler loves coming up with his/her/their own stories, but doesn't know where to start, then this class is for them! We are so excited to welcome Ms. Tara Horutz, a middle school teacher in Mendham, to lead the kiddos in creating their graphic novels. Course Overview Students will learn the fundamentals of graphic novel creation, from story development to final production. Each week builds upon previous skills, culminating in their own original graphic novel. We will cover everything from deciding what layout works best for particular stories to figure drawing and world-building! By the end of the 8 weeks, participants will have a finished graphic novel to enjoy. We will have a gallery showing and presentation on the last week so that students can share their stories with family members and friends. Light nosh will be served. We will meet every Thursday 6-7:30pm for eight weeks starting on January 9th The cost of these classes is $360 ($45/class) plus a $10 materials fee. Please bring in a fabric shopping bag or drawstring bag to carry the supplies in. Students must bring their supplies to class each week. We will only be holding room for 10 students in each semester to make sure that each participant receives individual attention. -Individuals who withdraw from their course (8-week art class) within 2 weeks before it begins, may do so less $35 processing fee. -An enrolled student withdrawing 1 week before, or after, it begins will receive no refund, unless outstanding circumstances exist (e.g medical condition with Dr. note, or extreme family emergency). However, credit can be extended to a class of equal value, minus any classes attended and less a $35 processing fee. A minimum of 4 kids are needed to run the classes Due to the nature of these classes, we will not be able to offer makeups for any missed classes, however, we will send an email with instructions to work on their projects at home.
